And the story continues...

Jazzy Jewelz (JJ) might be doing well today,  but in the beginning it was far from easy.

Back to 2007.

So at that time it was me and my partner, who will remain nameless, not because were on bad terms; just because his very private. He and I were so excited about the business and making jewelry, and really putting the name out there. We where selling to our family, friends, strangers anyone that wanted to buy. The business was awesome, and we where excited. And with all of the excitement, we decided to have our first jewelry show, and it was at a hotel! LOL! Yes, not in a house but at a hotel, lol, to us at the time it was a big deal. August 17, 2007, it's our BIG DAY! All of our family and friends came out to support; it was a huge success. I mean the entire week before the show we were in the house just busting out new designs. So on the day of the show we had over 100 items created; I mean for first timers that was a huge victory, and we lived off of that high for a long time after.

While doing craft shows, and other vendor events, we came to see that we weren't the only ones making jewelry (not happy campers), but we had to press as though we didn't even see the other people. I don't want to fool you, but, we weren't that happy about the competition. I mean at every event we went to; every other table was jewelry!!!! Jewelry here jewelry there, seriously it was just to much. So, did we get a little salty? Your out here at an event, you would at least like to be the only one like you right? Right, so we had to take a huge humble pill, and really say: lets make our stuff stand out, and that's exactly what we did.

We began to make a name for ourselves in the vendor circuit. I had the chunky and he had the delicate. They loved it! (and they still love it :-) ) We were on top of the vendor world...we hit just about all the events that we could get our application fee to. But here comes the block, even though we had the best jewelry ( my opinion) they wouldn't let us participate. The host/ organizers of the events would say: "Sorry, but we have to many jewelry vendors, you can't participate; but we'll keep you on our files just in case we have an opening". BLAH BLAH BLAH, I'm sorry people but I didn't to hear it, in my mind I was like: "who's better than us"? But time would show, it wasn't about who was better, it was about the money.

Yes, money makes the world go round, and because we were a small company, we didn't have the money to pay. JJ was making money but not enough to pay the high fees that these events were asking for. What can we do? We have to move on to the next one, the ones that we could afford, downfall, just because we could afford it, doesn't mean it was worth it. Like they say everything that's free is not good for you. These events where far from good (very humbling), but we had to P.U.S.H (Pray Until Something Happens) and that's exactly what we did.

I'll be back for the remainder of the story.

Until next time; have a Jazzy day!
